Gaisce: The President’s Award

We were privileged to have Mr Stephen Peers visit DCS to speak to and encourage our 4th and 5th year students to get involved in Gaisce, a self-development programme for young people between the ages of 14 and 25 in Ireland.

Gaisce is the most prestigious youth award in the country and at its core is a challenge issued to the young people of Ireland, from the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, to dream big and to realise their potential. It is not a competition, but a self development programme for young people. Gaisce’s guiding principles are non-competitive and voluntary. It develops key skills such as persistence and diligence while simultaneously fostering the ability to work both as an individual and as part of a team.
