DCS Chess

12 very eager and competitive DCS students travelled to Rochestown College to take part in a Cork Schools Chess event recently. A total of 96 players, making up 24 teams from 9 different schools participated in the event. Each player played 6 matches with each win contributing a point to their team’s overall score.

Majd Hamam of 3rd yr, flew the flag for DCS, claiming the Individual Junior trophy and placing 3rd overall by winning 5 of his 6 matches. Well done Majd. DCS Team A came in 6th, narrowly losing out on a prize, Team B finished in a tie for 8th, Team C in 16th. A special mention to Pavol Drozd, 1st yr, who finished in a tie for 8th in the individual competition. Every one of our 12 students contributed to their teams score showing just how strong Chess is in DCS ♟️♟️♟️
