Lord Mayor Visit

This morning we were honoured with a visit from Lord Mayor of Cork, Kieran McCarthy, who took time out of his very busy schedule to speak to our students.

Mr McCarthy’s passion for history, heritage and local communities was very obvious as he captivated the attention of a full assembly area with engaging stories. The history of his infamous Lord Mayor’s Medal was comprehensively explored as was the history of the Sail Cloth Factory which had its origins in our local Ballybrack Woods.

Our Lord Mayor gifted the students with a beautiful bookmark depicting the Cork Coat of Arms which is very much appreciated. Mr McCarthy also left us with two very important messages. Firstly, to strive to be the best version of oneself and secondly, to connect with people in life who will help us on our journey. Food for thought for the year ahead!
