Politics the Theme for Yr3 Public Speaking Competition

Class 3D hosted the 3rd year Public Speaking competition yesterday morning.  The theme this year was politics.  The topics under discussion were very topical and included Irish Neutrality, Arming an Garda Siochána and Attitudes to Migrants and Asylum Seekers in Ireland.

The competition was preceded by a discussion with local activist Mr Peter Horgan on the Role of Local Government in the Community. Mr Horgan then kindly adjudicated the competition with DCS senior accomplished public speakers, Jonathan Solomon and Manuel Bravo Lopez.

The judges had some tough decisions to make but after much deliberation the well deserved winners were as follows:

First place - Josh Healy.
Second place - Ciaran Canty.
Third place - Krish Gobal.
Special commendation - Caleb Livingstone.
