European Youth Parliament

A new venture in 2023 was participation in the European Youth Parliament. This is an organisation that facilitates student debate, discussion, committee work, resolution development and public speaking amongst young people. 5th year student Jonathan Solomon has qualified for the International Session of the European Youth Parliament in Switzerland this September. He will not only represent DCS, but Ireland in this very prestigious event.

First Year Public Speaking

To encourage our junior students to lead in our senior teams footsteps, in May 2022, we introduced the First Year Well-being Public Speaking Competition. The aim of the competition is to hear students' opinions on issues of wellbeing in a formal public forum. Participants speak on topics such as Healthy Body - Healthy Mind, It's OK to be Different, Climate Change and Let's talk about the School Uniform. Owing to its huge success, it is now firmly anchored in the DCS calendar as an annual event.
