DCS students raise an incredible €4600 in Charity Work!
In March this year, there was a tremendous school response to help the victims of the war in Ukraine. Various fundraising initiatives were organised including a cake sale, a non-uniform day, and two raffles, one of which was organised solely by students of 2D in 2nd year. TY students also filled a van full of clothes and food for war relief charities.
Our generous school community raised over €3500 which we donated to Fiona Corcoran of The Greater Chernobyl Cause. Fiona was extremely grateful to receive such a generous amount which will be of enormous help to those struggling in Ukraine.
To add to this, the IFSC used donated chairs, desks, books and stationery from DCS to furnish a new school in Gambia. This was the result of a third year CSPE initiative.
Finally, our enterprising 5th year LCVP class then organised the immensely anticipated annual staff v student soccer match. The students were no match for the teachers superior soccer skills and athleticism! Their chosen charity was the Irish Cancer Society and thanks to their hard work another €1100 was raised for this great cause.
We are simply in awe of our school community in supporting so many worthy causes. Well done and thanks to all.
