Sunshine and Downpours in Gougane Barra

This week our Year 1 students went on their eagerly awaited trip to Gougane Barra along with their Year 5 mentors. Tuesday’s visit enjoyed glorious sunshine while Thursday’s trip were soaked by torrential downpours but regardless a fantastic day was had by all.

It was an action packed trip where they learned about St. Finbarr, the first Bishop of Cork, and furthered their knowledge of the history of Gougane. The group also visited the Oratory where they prayed for their families. The students also hiked into the mountainous forest where they were rewarded with spectacular waterfalls and saw the spring of our own River Lee.

Thanks to Ms Anne Barry Murphy for organising this outing.
