DCS Public Speakers

Congratulations to Dylan Marian, Jude McCarthy and Cuan O’Neill who took part in ‘Speak Up’, the inaugural Public Speaking Competition for First Years, hosted by Le Chéile Secondary School Ballincollig.

Dylan fervently and skilfully proposed the motion that ‘Violent Video Games Should Be Banned’ while Jude gave a passionate and insightful talk on the topic, ‘How To Enjoy Your Weekends More’, a speech which was highly commended by the adjudicators.

It was the boys’ first time speaking in front of a hugely enthusiastic crowd but they both coped superbly with the occasion, doing the school proud. After this strong debut, they will doubtless continue to perform successfully for years to come.

Meanwhile Cuan O’Neill ably represented the school on the adjudication panel, gaining great experience. He expertly oversaw and helped our participants throughout the day as did our Assistant First Year Public Speaking Coordinator, TY student Darragh Gannon.
