Gaelic Football & Hurling
Hurling
In Douglas Community School we have a ‘Sport for All’ policy. Each year we train and compete with teams in u14, u15, u16.5 and u19. This gives each student in each year an opportunity to excel in our national game of hurling. 2024 saw u16 hurlers achieve a well earned victory in the Cork County Championship. Our fantastic captain Kevin Long accepted the cup on behalf of an outstanding group of players. The future is bright for DCS hurling.
Facilities
We have a strong relationship with local clubs. Douglas GAA club use our excellent facilities with their underage club. DCS is one of the few schools in Cork with a full size GAA pitch, GAA Clubhouse and a training pitch.
Past Pupils and Present Pupils
Tradition is embedded deep in DCS hurling.
Eoin Cadogan – Dual Cork Star/Current Cork Senior Hurling Full Back
Stephen Moylan – Played in the 2013 All-Ireland Hurling Final
William Hanley Banks is currently excelling with Cork Underage Hurling Academies and will be instrumental to the future success of DCS on the field.
Primary Schools League
DCS is determined to make a difference in the wider community. In 2020 the DCS Primary Schools League was formed to help encourage and grow our national sport on our school grounds.
Gaelic Football
Our ‘Sport for All’ policy permits our school body to train and compete with teams in u15, u16.5 and u19. This gives each student in each year an opportunity to excel outside the classroom. 2019 saw our u16.5 footballers win the County Final. This team boasts many fantastic players that will carve the path for future DCS Footballers.
Stars of the Future
