Basketball
Douglas Community School has a strong tradition of basketball in the school and have 4 teams competing every year - Minor, Junior, U16 and U19. We have won countless regional finals, and have reached the final stages at All Ireland level, winning two All Ireland League finals.
We have a great relationship with local clubs especially Fr Matthews and Carrigaline. Our students have represented the school and the country at international competitions with top class players such as Michael O Mahony, Diego O Herlihy, Liam Harris, Jack O’Mahony and Gary Pineda. Mike O’Mahony, Leaving Cert class of 2021 is currently studying on a scholarship in Dominican College, New York and recently signed for Charges of DC. Francois Nkoy-Eale, LC class of 2023 has taken the fantastic opportunity to play with BK Liepāja, a professional basketball club in Latvia.
Our Transition Year students participate annually in the wheel chair basketball blitz , winning the competition outright in 2019.
DCS has a unique tradition where senior students help train the junior teams thereby building a fantastic basketball team and school spirit.
