Graphic Novelist Visits DCS

Today Transition Year students had a visit from Alan Corbett an author, illustrator and fellow Corkonian. He is mostly known for his graphic novel “The Ghost of Shandon”.

It was an informative, creative, and enjoyable visit. He shared the development of his career so far where he studied Graphic Design in CIT and then completed an MA in Children’s Book Illustration in Cambridge School of Art. He has established a successful career both nationally and internationally.

A number of TY students will now take from this experience as they will undertake a module working with the elderly in Turners Cross care home. With another local artist Therese Newman they will produce a unique take on comic book illustration between young and old.
