DCS Successful at Cork Schools Invitational XC Event

Douglas Community School athletes recently competed at the Cork Schools Invitational XC event at Cork IT. The competition was tough with over 24 schools in attendance.

Our 1st year boys team raced over 1000m and came 3rd in the team contest and were without the services of their number one athlete Alan O Donovan, who races in the All Ireland Championships at the weekend. The team was led home by a superb race from Ciaran Couch in 6th place and other great performances from James McCarthy, Luke Horgan, Daniel Hurley and Conor Horgan.

In the 4th/5th/6th year race over 3000m Billy Murphy made his return to racing and won in style, with Alan Ring following him home in 2nd place. The team came 1st with great races also from Leon Domoney, Dylan Stanton and Paul Lehane.
