This year for the first time, Douglas Community School was one of 12 schools selected nationally to enter the highly prestigious Juvenes Translatores, a translation competition organised by the European Commission. Over 500 European Schools participated on the same day in November. The contest, which has been going on since 2007, is designed to help all who have a thirst to learn foreign languages. Studies show the ever growing need for translation and translators in Europe. Students must be ready for this!
The school team consisted of Glenn Kenny (Sixth Year), Kamil Roman, Artur Calyj and Daniel Herlihy (all Fifth Year). They presented very clever and thorough translations. The Juvenes Translatores winners will be notified in February and receive their awards at a ceremony in Brussels on 8 April 2014.
