Douglas Community School’s Cansat team have qualified for the national final after a successful day at CIT on the 15th of February. The team, made up of 5th Years David Barrett, James Hodkinson, Conor Fahy, Gavin McCarthy, Artur Chalyj, Daniel Herlihy and Cian Adams, will compete in Birr, Co. Offaly, on the 22nd of March.
The Cansat competition requires teams to build a working satellite inside the dimensions of an ordinary drinks can. The regional final in CIT consisted of a launch and a presentation, which had the whole team working together to present their project.
In Birr, DCS Cansat (or Team Uncanny, which they’re also known as), will compete for a place in the European final, which takes place in Norway this June. The other schools in the national final will come from Limerick, Galway and Dublin.
Praise must finally go to Mr Bronks and Mr Buckley, who have helped the team every step of the way.
Best of luck to DCS Cansat in Birr and congratulations on their cantastic achievement!
