Students from the DCS Robotics Club have added yet more silverware to the cabinet – this time they have been awarded a Crest Science Award, to go with their trophy at the National Lego League for robotics. The team entered their ideas for The Future of Robotics in the field of Food Preservation, and were among just a handful of schools to achieve the award. The fact that this is the first time the awards have been awarded in Ireland underlines their achievement. The scheme, run out of UK universities, is divided into attainment levels of Bronze, Silver and Gold. Gold is awarded at 3rd Year University level after the other 3 levels have been completed. Getting started with a Bronze as our lads did is a great achievement for the team and a real demonstration of the robotics team’s research and presentation skills. It is hoped that if they offer the award again in Ireland, DCS will compete again with the present robotics team who are preparing for yet another SAP National final in Galway on the 19th January. The second years are also competing in the Cork final on 8th Feb. Good luck to them all!
