Continued success for DCS Athletics


Douglas Community School athletes continue with some superb track performances. At the Tailteann Schools Interprovincial Championships in Tullamore, Patrick Coleman had a superb win in the 1500m steeplechase and thus gained selection for the Irish team. Other great performances from Douglas athletes came from Mark Seacy (5th in 1500m steeplechase), Peter Hanrahan (4th in 1500m), Cullen Lynch (8th in 3000m), Robert O’ Neill (5th in 3000m walk) and Cillian Fleming (8th in 3000m walk).

Patrick went on to represent Ireland at the Schools International Track and Field Championships held in Antrim. Patrick ran the race of his life to finish 3rd and also recorded a new personal best time.

At the All-Ireland u14-u19 Track and Field Championships, also held in Tullamore, Brian Murray and Robert O’Neill each took a superb silver in the u18 800m and the u17 3000m race walk respectively, with both athletes recording personal best times. Patrick Coleman took a great silver in the u17 1500m steeplechase and there were other fine performances from Mark Seacy (5th in u17 steeplechase), Alan O’ Brien (4th in u19 800m), Peter Hanrahan (6th in u18 800m), Eoin Bourke (8th in u15 800m), Andrew O’ Keeffe (11th in u16 3000m), Alan Ring (12th in u14 1500m) and Emmet Bracken (6th in u16 1500m).
